It is a good idea if you go for an eye examination on your holiday or during your spare time as the detailed eye examination takes time. It can cause a blurred vision for about 3 - 6 hours if you need a dilated eye examination for the back part of your eye. It can also cause glare and photophobia. So you should not drive at that time. Wearing the sunglasses can protect these glare and photophobia. If possible, you should be accompanied with another person. It is necessary to do visual acuity test, measurement of intra-ocular pressure, assessment of spectacle power if required as basic tests before a consultation with an eye doctor. After an eye doctor examined your front part of your eye with a slit-lamp, a dilated eye examination for the back part of your eye may be needed according to your eye condition. Your eye will not be damaged with a light from a slit-lamp. If necessary, an eye doctor will explain you to do other tests for a definitive diagnosis and treatment after a detailed examination.
